  1. Chapter 19: verse 1 and 9... interesting that Simeon's inheritance was within the land that had been given to Judah, and that Judah had been given more than they had needed... does it go back to the whole idea of "blessed to be a blessing"?... the study notes refer back to the blessings given by Jacob to the tribes... in Genesis 49:7, it says, about Simeon and Levi, that 'I will scatter them in Jacob and disperse them in Isreal'... is that what is happening here? is that why Simeon received land within the borders of another tribe... and is this why the Levites had their cities spread out throughout the entire land, among all the tribes?... Jacob's words seem like curses, yet God seems to make these curses into blessings, at least for the Levites, in that they are appointed by God to be His holy priesthood... it reminds me of the words of Joseph, 'what you meant for evil, God intended for good'... also, Genesis 49:10, talks about how 'the scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his'... the footnotes say that the line 'until he comes to whom it belongs' can also be translated 'until Shiloh comes'... wasn't it at Shiloh that all these inheritances were handed out? (Joshua 18:8-10), so it makes sense then that some of Judah's land would pass from Judah to 'whom it belongs', which must have been Simeon?...ok, my brain hurts now, so moving on...
verse 15... cool, they got Bethlehem... so, is this by the seashore? (see Genesis 49:13)... are Josephs decendents (including David) from the tribe of Zebulun then?
verse 21-22... have you noticed how many towns have 'beth' in them? what does 'beth' mean? anything significant, or just a common prefix?... also, in reference to Issachar's inheritance, and Jacob's blessing (Genesis 49:14-15), did Issachar get a good spot of land? Is his inheritance land between two other tribes' camps?... just wondered
verse 29... 'Tyre' sounds familiar... is there a historical significance to this city somehow?... or maybe it is just referred to alot in the Bible or something?... is Asher's land rich and full of good and rare resources? (see Genesis 49:20)
verse 32-39... nothing really coming to me on Naphtali... only thing I found in Bible Gateway searching is that Jesus goes to visit the people of Zebulun and Naphtali first off when He starts His ministry to fulfill a prophecy about them (Matthew 4:13-17, Isaiah 9:1-2)
verse 46... 'Joppa' is where Jonah boarded the boat to flee from God (see Jonah 1:3), and where some of the 'famous' and 'righteous' women lived, like Tabitha/Dorcus and Lydia (see Acts 9:36,38)... and it is also where Peter first learned that the message was to go to the Gentiles as well as to the Jews (see Acts 9-11)
verse 47... interesting that they had a hard time taking what God had given them... so they gave up and did what they wanted, what was easier to do... how often do we give up on what God is wanting for us because it is 'too hard'? at what cost do we do this?... also, maybe this is what Genesis 49:18 refers to when it says 'I look for your deliverance o Lord'
verse 50...nice that Joshua got the land he wanted... I wonder why he wanted that particular spot?
