  1. Chapter 19: verse 6... I think I had questioned what the 'avenger of blood' was in a previous book/chapter... it appears here that that is a person who is responsible for avenging the death of a loved one/family member... maybe?... pretty sure it is not the angel of death, as I think I had suggested/questioned/proposed as a possible option, maybe, before?
verse 11-12... this makes me think about how people try to flee from state to state, but how the state of the crime can have jurisdiction to bring the person back for trial, and how people try to cross the border of countries to try to escape their crimes (but I don't think they can always be brought back by the country of the crime?)... anyway, no real legal knowledge here (which may be obvious!)... just getting my thought from movie flash backs and things... but if this is accurate, then it made me wonder if these laws were instituted based on the laws laid out in Deuteronomy and other Biblical sources?
verse 14... in real estate, that is a big no-no... that is why surveys are so important... did they do them then, too?
verse 16-17... is this where the idea of 'swearing in' and taking 'an oath' comes from in our judicial system today? Do they still swear on the Bible? Did they ever or and I wrong? If they don't use the Bible, what do they use? Just curious
verse 18-19... not worth lying, man!

  2. Chapter 20: verse 1... still think it is really cool how God made the wheels come off the Egyptians chariots when they were trying to catch the people at the Red Sea (see Exodus 14:25)
verse 2-4... that is way cooler that having 'Braveheart' say it because you know GOD it with you and fighting for you... more than a great pep talk... that is a true confidence builder, because you know the confidence is not in man, but in God, Himself... however noble a man may be, he, in no way can stand up to the valor of God... with God, all things are possible... without God nothing worthwhile is possible
verse 5-9... our service to God is voluntary... He only wants us if we want to be there... if our heart is not in the service, God does not want us because we will be a stumbling block to others who do want to be there... do we become so focused on the act of serving that we forget to evaluate this about ourselves before we begin? what about while we are in the 'thick of it'? what about after we are done and have set about engaging others about their service?... we must remember that service, just for the sake of service, is not an act of worship... if we begin to reach a point where our service is no longer worshipful (at all times), then we should consider taking a break from service, lest it becomes an idol in our life, instead of a loving act or worship to our one true God that is is intended to be.... we should note, too, that if we become so ingrained in our acts of service that we are not compelled to see if we might have an attitude that poses a stumbling block, than that might likely be a sign that we are in fact a stumbling block... also, we should be cautious not to just try to find 'warm bodies' to 'fill spots' in our church, or we might end up creating more problems than good... just some things to think about...
verse 10-16... who in their right mind would not accept the offer of peace when the outcome the other way is so much worse!... but, did we accept God's offer of peace at first?... did we act in our 'right mind'? or did we try to fight back? to what benefit was it? what unneccessary trouble did we bring on ourselves (or others) because of our arrogance, pride, and rebellious ways?
verse 18... just think back about the truth that has already been revealed in this... God knows our hearts... we've proven them to Him already... why do we doubt when we know ourselves and God?
verse 19... 'are the trees of the field people, that you should besiege them?'... I'm not a 'tree hugger' persay, but I like this... it made me smile :)... the footnote says an alternate translation is 'for the fruit trees are for the benefit of man'... this is very true, and I am thankful... God is not wasteful... I like that, too. :)
    Have a wonderful night!
    God Bless,
