  2. Chapter 6: verse 1-8... this same basic scenario is what causes people to ask things like "why would a good God allow suffering?" or "why do bad things happen to good people?" etc... one would think that if the people were worshipping God and Uzzah's intentions were to honor God by keeping the ark from falling, then why would God be angry? right?... we are not the first people to not understand all of God's ways or be angry with Him because of our lack of understanding... afterall, David was really angry at this point... so angry in fact, that all worship stopped... it is not a sin for us to not understand God's ways, afterall God tells us that He knows we do not know everything, because He has not revealed everything to us (Isaiah 55:8-9)... the sin comes in believing the lie that God is wrong or unjust... afterall God is holy and perfect, and just because we do not understand God fully, does not prove that we are right and God is wrong... that would be putting ourselves above God... we are the created, not the Creator... we might find that our lack of understanding brings us frustration or sadness or anger, but we must be wary of staying "camped" in those emotions... instead of 'blaming' God we should talk to Him about our feelings so He can reveal Himself to us about th matter, and give us further understanding and peace... we cannot move past these negative feelings if we only harbor bitterness and refuse to address the situation with the One we are upset with... the study notes refer us back to Exodus 25:14, 1 Chronicles 15:13-15, Numbers 4:15 for some further explanation of God's will/previous direction in the matter... sometimes we can get so caught up in doing things our way that we forget that what is truly 'good' is to follow God's way
verse 9-11... interesting how our lack of understanding can lead to fear and even a disconnect from God if we do not bring the situation to God, lay it at His feet, repent of our sins in regard to the matter, and let Him bring healing
verse 12-15, 17-19... sometimes we must see to believe and trust... but regardless, we must still come to the point that we turn back to God, and repent of our lack of trust in His sovereignty... once we do this, we will find the reconciliation and healing that we seek.... God is waiting to reconcile with us when we choose to do so.... also interesting to note how God brings blessing to those who do receive Him.
verse 16... jealousy is a bad thing (see also verse 20-22)... people may not understand when we put God first in our lives, but we should not be surprised, as Jesus warned us this would happen (see John 15:18-25, 1 Peter 4:12-19)
vaere 23... just curious if this is because of David or because of God?... our jealousy of and irreverance to God can bring about not only spiritual separation, but can also hurt our human relationships, too... the study notes do mention that this barreness is in relation to Saul... alluding to the idea of God's promise that Saul's line would we wiped out (not finding verses off hand but it was in our past reading in the books of Samuel so far, I am pretty sure)... please let me know if I am wrong on this, though... thanks.
